A Legacy of Conservation in Every Masterpiece

The Roosevelt Principle

Theodore Roosevelt understood that conservation begins with intimate knowledge. The South African ceramic artists we represent live by the same principle - their art is a reflection of their love and respect for the natural world which surrounds them.

These artists don't romanticize nature. They document it with the precision of field guides and the soul of those who share the landscape with their subjects.

Preserve Wildlife

Many of our sculptures honor endangered species, crafted to raise awareness and spark conversation.

Support Rural Artists

Each sale directly funds artists in remote South African communities—providing housing, education, and a better future.

Own a Piece of the Wild

These pieces are not reproductions. Each is singular. Each carries a story—of an animal, a sculptor, a continent.

Discover the Process

African ceramic art tells a story, one of skill, precision, and cultural heritage. Each piece goes through a transformative process, from a lump of clay to a stunning work of art.

Here’s a deeper look into the meticulous process that brings these unique works of art to life.

1. Shaping the Vision: The journey starts with the main artist planning an idea. The first ones bringing the idea to life are the ones creating the shapes – the throwers and sculptors who work together.

2. Sculpting Life: The piece is then handed over to a sculptor, who meticulously hand-forms intricate figurative elements, bringing realistic animals and lush foliage to life.

3. The First Embrace of Fire:Once the sculpting is complete, the piece undergoes its first firing in the kiln, followed by a period of cooling, preparing it for the next stage

4. A Canvas of Color: The piece is then given to a painter, who, with precision and artistry, paints the piece, adding layers of color that bring the artwork to vivid life.

5. Glazed and Enthroned: After a second firing, the painted piece is meticulously glazed, adding depth, shine, and resilience.

6. The Final Fire: With its glaze applied, the piece undergoes its final firing, solidifying its beauty and strength.

Through this elaborate process, what was once a lump of clay is transformed into a stunning work of art, a testament to the skill and dedication of the artists involved.

'Seeing my pieces sold worldwide, even in museums, is a blessing. I'm grateful for the support that makes this possible,'

Each piece purchased contributes to this success, surrounding us with objects that ignite passion in our homes and make the world a better place. Wiseman adds, 'It humbles and motivates me to create more, knowing my work resonates so deeply with people everywhere.'
