Zulu Zebra Rider brings together the wildlife and cultural traditions of KwaZulu-Natal in a richly detailed ceramic sculpture by Love Art Ceramic. Sculpted by Sibusiso Ndaba and hand-painted by Zinhle Nene, the work depicts a Zulu woman riding a zebra, dressed in elaborate patterned clothing and wearing an isicholo, the distinctive headdress traditionally associated with married Zulu women. The isicholo has long carried meaning connected to marriage, status and identity within Zulu culture. Against the zebra's natural black-and-white stripes, Zinhle introduces layers of blue, orange and geometric decoration, transforming the rider into the visual centerpiece of the sculpture. Created by hand in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, this is a contemporary ceramic that celebrates African wildlife while drawing inspiration from Zulu culture, dress and craftsmanship.
