Description
The Hyena and Monkey was designed by Zimele Original Ceramics in South Africa.Hand painted by Petros Hand sculpted by Mpilo. The African Circus collection, in Victor's words: This collection was inspired by my observations of wildlife and human nature/life. The underlying message is that everyone seeks two fundamental aspects of life for themselves and their families: food and safety. (For instance, the rabbit on the giraffe surrounded by pumpkins and the monkeys feeling secure on the leopard skin elephant with their fruit basket exemplify this idea perfectly.) The overarching emotion is one of unity and support for a noble cause. As the saying goes, "if you light a neighbor's candle, that won't blow away yours, but it gives more light for others." This sentiment also reflects personal experiences, particularly observing successful yet reluctant Africans who are hesitant to extend a helping hand, even when they have nothing to lose. Among my favorite pieces from the collection are the white lion, the giraffe, the bunny, the leopard skin elephant, and the monkeys alongside the various animals depicted with their associated objects. The creative process involved a collaborative effort filled with laughter, enjoyment, and numerous decisions regarding which animals would be paired together and how they should be painted.
