Description
This sculptural bowl from Zimele Ceramics is a vibrant celebration of two of Africa’s most iconic birds: the hoopoe and the turaco. Hand-sculpted and painted in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, the one-of-a-kind piece features a pair of raised hoopoes with their distinctive crests, accompanied by richly colored turacos nestled among sculpted tropical foliage. The bowl's openwork design creates a rhythmic flow of light and form, while the birds appear perched in their natural environment—full of motion, color, and song. The lush green palette is punctuated with warm corals and soft blues, capturing the diversity of the African canopy. From the precision of each feather to the expressive plant textures, every detail reflects the skill and imagination of Zimele’s artisans. Both functional and deeply sculptural, this bowl transforms the natural world into a living, three-dimensional artwork.
