Ardmore teapots in the form of animals and birds have become very popular with collectors and we are pleased to present many new designs from our latest shipment. Whimsical teapots have been entertaining us at teatime for centuries.
The Chinese exported figurative teapots to Europe along with the first shipments of tea in the 17th century. These novel designs of roosters, monkeys and dragons were copied enthusiastically by English potters, and animal shaped teapots became particularly popular during the Victorian era. The Ardmore artists have been inspired by humorous 19th century Majolica designs but have added their own quirky sense of humor and their local life experiences.
