Several new Ardmore pieces feature Nguni cattle, which are a special breed in southern Africa. They are known for their fertility and resistance to diseases and for centuries they have played an important social and economic role in Zulu culture. They provided food, hides for clothing and shields, and the means of acquiring a wife through lobola or bride-price. A man's wealth was counted in cattle and determined his importance in the community.
