Alex Sibanda specializes in modeling the Travelers of Africa collection and his first hippo riders were purchased by the Museum of Cultures in Basel, Switzerland. Alex was born in Zimbabwe in 1963 and moved to South Africa in 2004. Thrower Lovemore Sithole, his fellow countryman, invited Alex to visit Ardmore and he joined the sculpture team in 2010.
In 2012, Alex began modeling rhino riders to raise awareness and funds for this endangered species. Since then he has included many different types of animals in his repertoire, including fish, whales, giraffe, and buffalo. Alex was chosen to represent Ardmore and South Africa at the Moscow Trade Show in 2013. In the words of Fée Halsted, "Alex is the most wonderful man and artist to work with as he dares to embrace new challenges."
