Thabo Mbhele & Siyabonga Mabaso

Thabo Mbhele and Siyabonga Mabaso often collaborate on prestige pieces at the Ardmore studio. New examples of their collaborative work have recently arrived at the Pascoe Gallery. Call for details 305-326-0060. Thabo is a prolific artist whose work often features his favorite animal, the leopard. Thabo was born in Lesotho and was introduced to Ardmore by his cousin Bennet Zondo, one of the studio’s leading sculptors. Bennet taught Thabo how to model with clay and he began working alongside him in 2007. Now he is one of Ardmore’s most successful sculptors and his splendid urns take pride of place at Ardmore exhibitions around the world.

Siyabonga Mabaso studied art at school in KwaZulu-Natal and had an impressive portfolio of drawings and paintings when he was introduced to Fee at Ardmore in 2007. Within a few weeks, his work was being exhibited and collected by Ardmore fans. Siya is an energetic and versatile artist and a close observer of nature, which he paints realistically.
