The protea is South Africa's national flower, and in the fynbos it is the bees and sugarbirds that keep it blooming, moving pollen from crown to crown. The ceramic studios of KwaZulu-Natal have long sculpted that partnership: bees crawling over layered petals, sunbirds perched on flowering lids, leopards and zebras resting among the blooms.
Every work in this collection is hand built, hand painted and one of a kind, signed by the artists who made it. Tureens, bowls, jugs, teapots, jewelry boxes and coin dishes, each carrying the flower and its keepers in clay.
